Watch the Netflex series, American Primeval, it's similar in its depiction of America's Western Frontier, settlers, injuns, the U.S. Army. Both are very brutal, because life back then was brutal.

I loved it. It's brutal though (think of a historical narrative of Blood Meridian at times).

When I first saw the trailer for American Primeval, I thought it was the trailer for Empire of the Summer Moon (which is supposed to be getting a movie).

The book should be required reading in school. I found it helped me understand the utter hatred each group had for each other.

That’s a great I went to Texas public school answer.

To the OP great book, well written and I think a runner up Pulitzer Prize.

You get a new perspective on Manifest Destiny and exactly what it took for that to happen.
