By Stanley Nelson and foreword by Greg Iles. I had purchased this book a couple years ago and finally getting around to it. I have thoroughly enjoyed. Extremely informative, Nelson has done his research. I was born in the 70’s and have heard the stories but this book really does bring that era to life. It mainly focuses on Natchez area which takes the book to a new level since very familiar with town.

Is it politically slanted or a cross-section of that regions history?

Thanks. I am interested in early first hand accounts of American history. More from common citizens POV. I will check this out.

It’s been sitting on my book shelf for probably a year. I need to actually start it.

This sounds interesting. I’d like to read Natchez Burning as well.

I checked it out at the library a few weeks ago. An excellent read and, as you said, Nelson did do his homework. I too enjoy reading books where I have a geographical knowledge of the landscape described.

I’ve been meaning to grab this one. Nelson also has a new one out, or coming out soon. Iles posted about it yesterday.
