Was coming to say generation kill
And one bullet away but since someone hit on those I’ll add:
Joker one: Donovan Campbell
Shadow sword: Jeremiah workman
Victory point: Ed darack
Rage company: Thomas Daly
Way of the reaper: nick irving
Shooter: an autobiography by gunny jack coughlin
Not sure why but I went on a GWOT book bender some years back and these stood out

Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes. Technically fiction but is all based on the author's experience in Vietnam.

I'm looking for a book with real everyday life in war, not just a re-telling of the broad history of the battle.

If you're interested in Vietnam War memoirs, I've read a several awesome ones recently. These are written by men who served in SOG, the Studies and Observation Group. It was a special operations unit that ran recon missions in Laos, Cambodia, South Vietnam, and North Vietnam.
We Few and Whispers in the Tall Grass by Nick Brokhausen - My favorite war memoirs. Brokhausen is just an awesome story teller.
Other SOG memoirs I really enjoyed:
Across the Fence and On the Ground by John S. Meyer
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Lynne Black
Secret Commandos by John Plaster
Eye of the Tiger by John Edmund Delezen is also very good. The account of a Marine who served in Force Recon in Vietnam.

You can't recommend Matterhorn without also recommending Fields of Fire by Jim Webb - Matterhorn's superior older brother
