I've googled already but am curious if anyone has specific recommendations on books that discuss the history of special forces in the United States, whether it's about the overall history or about specific missions, etc. The Bin laden documentary and the discussions on the OT got my thinking it's time to read up. Seems like Annie Jacobsen is a common name in searches. I'm not terribly interested in reading American Sniper, Lone Survivor or anything like that which was recently made into a movie.

Sea Stories by McRaven is good. Its a bit more broad than just his seal duty, but not much. Its a good book.

I read this one years ago, and it was pretty good. Goes over his time in BUDs and when he was in Somalia
