SEC Network analyst Chris Doering is all-in on Oklahoma transfer quarterback John Mateer, who he thinks will win the the Heisman Trophy in his first season with the Sooners.

The redshirt junior from Little Elm, Texas, transferred to Oklahoma from Washington State last season. He threw for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns last season and rushed for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.

Mateer was rated the No. 1 overall player in ESPN's transfer rankings last offseason.

Keep in mind that OU hired Mateer's OC/QB coach while he was at Wash State...

My class B Texas HS played Little Elm in football. This QB could probably beat that team with only four other players on the field on his side LOL

We have to hope Mateer is everything.us sooner fans think he is . I think we are all sold he’s stronger version of Baker Mayfield . Mayfield was a playmaker like John is . I don’t think Mateer is as good of a deep pass r but he is a better runner . He’s like a running back with a juke stick. Super strong legs . Just have to see it on the field vs the sec.

Is Oklahoma at least a 10-win squad? I’m not seeing it.
