The NFL Network’s pregame show on Thursday before the Ravens vs. Bengals featured this awesome exchange of words between hosts/former receivers Steve Smith and Michael Irvin. Irvin suggested that Michael Crabtree was the best receiver that Baltimore QB Joe Flacco has played with since Anquan Boldin in 2012. And that set Smith, the former Ravens WR, off a bit...

I could watch Smith go after people all day.

Smith was small in stature with the heart of a lion. He would go across the middle or win 50/50 jump balls. Smith was most definitely a dawg. Irv was the beneficiary of team sucess. He also never reach his full potential because of his off the field activities.

Irv wanted no part of the middle of the field.

Don't forget, smith has been in depression and been seen crying on a few occasions because he got his bell rung. So going over the middle will make him a vegetable sooner than later. But hey enjoy that lion heart with that dwindling brain

Steve Smith never had the teams or QBs Irvin had so basing on titles or stats doesn't give the full picture. How many people, outside of Cowboys' fans, would pick Emmitt Smith over Barry Sanders or Walter Payton? Still, when did this become comparing two great retired WRs instead of whether Smith or Irvin was right in this situation?

Irvin has 3 rings. Smith has more stats because he played nearly 60 more games. Irvin's career ended early due to injury. In their prime, it is not even a contest. Irvin hands down and the end of the day no one cares about the stats. It is about titles.

Lol, now we're using the "rings" argument for wide receivers?

Never bet against Steve Smith. Pure killer.

Smith was a good player but he’s as insecure as a 12 year old girl. He could have disagreed with Irvin without trying to go scorched earth. Just makes Smith look bad.

It's his thin tiny skin. He has little man syndrome. He doesn't mention his depression or steroid use.

If Im a receiver I would take rings over stats any day of the week. Dan Marino was a much better QB than Trent Dilfer but guess which one has a Super Bowl ring and which one doesn't.

I cant stand Irvin the person or anything Cowboys related, but as a player he was head and shoulders above Smith.
