“I love my daddy but I know there are a lot of good people that have been hurt by his actions,” Jarrius said, via NOLA.com. “All I ever wanted to do was make everyone aware of the need for organ donation so that it might help others in need.”

But the effort ended in disgrace when the elder Robertson acknowledged diverting between $95,000 and $150,000 from the foundation’s coffers to his own pockets, including about $70,000 in gifts from New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson, National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell and Ochsner Medical Center, which treated Jarrius’ condition. Jarrius, who is now 19, has never been accused of wrongdoing. Instead, prosecutors said Jordy Robertson exploited his son’s medical condition for cash he then largely used to gamble at area casinos.

He literally exploited his sons condition and took cash right out of the foundation which was setup for him to Harrahs?? What a complete a-hole.

I don’t have a problem with this, but didn’t the 15 year old who killed that Uber driver only get 3 years or some shite?

Steal from a kid's foundation. Eight years appears right.

The father is a crook and thief. Should be sent to prison and the key for the prison cell door thrown away!

shite like this is why many people distrust charities. Myself included. Jarrius seems like a decent, genuine, kid. Feel bad for him too.

Horrible to steal from a kid's charity, obviously. That said, I wish we had better penalties and ways of making things right than just putting everyone in jail. 8 years of tax dollars to feed a man who instead should be out being forced to work to pay off what he stole, in my opinion. We need better penalties that fit the crime, especially for nonviolent crimes.
