On Monday, while making a point about the late Bobby Bowden being able to successfully head coach in any era due to his eye for talent on the recruiting trail, Paul Finebaum took a shot at Oklahoma and Notre Dame...
quote:

Bobby Bowden, he was in the first BCS game and lost. I mean, Bobby Bowden would've done well in any era because he was such a good coach and such a great recruiter. But I'm not sure. I mean, he would've had the players. And really, what separates people in the playoffs has been players. That's why Notre Dame has been unable to win.

That's why Oklahoma has failed most of the time, because they just simply could not match up to the SEC. Bobby Bowden could match up with the SEC. He had great success in the SEC.

Yeah, that’s why Bowden ran off screaming in the other direction every time FSU was offered a chance to join the SEC.

He felt he had an easier path to a title in the ACC. He has said that in interviews after he retired. Although, he did fairly well against the SEC in his career. At least after he got FSU to top tier program.

The weak football schedule of the ACC provides the ACC winner with less injuries and rested players. The insanely rough and tumble play of the SEC football schedule creates injuries and players who need rest. Regardless, the SEC is, by far, the most dominant conference in college. FACT!!

Bobby Bowden's championships came against Virginia Tech and Nebraska. He also lost two championship opportunities against Tennessee and Florida. What the frick is this moron taking about?
