© Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports
Video has emerged of Georgia Southern QB Shai Werts getting arrested in South Carolina last month after cops mistook bird poop for cocaine on his car. After the arrest, Werts was charged with misdemeanor cocaine possession and speeding. He was also suspended from team activities. Late Thursday, prosecutors announced they were dropping the charges, admitting the substance on Werts' car was not cocaine. Per TMZ...

Prosecutors have just released a statement to TMZ Sports, saying, "On August 8, 2019, SLED [South Carolina Law Enforcement Division] received the substance and completed the drug analysis. The forensic scientist determined that no controlled substance was detected."
"The Solicitor’s Office has begun the expungement process to have this charge removed from the system to ensure that this arrest and charge does not create a criminal history for Werts."

I’ve never had experience with Cocaine, but I would think it’s impossible for it to ride on the hood with a car going >5mph. Lol. Somebody get the MythButers on the phone.

You’re right and If the field test turned positive then the deputy either planted cocaine with the bird poop or those test kits are a sham.

...Or the bird that poo'd all over his hood had gotten into some cocaine

Bird poop is a delicacy high in protein in many parts of Asia.

I was mistakenly arrested for cocaine possession 20 years ago. And I’m white. It’s not always a race thing guys.

Sure it ain't, this just mistakenly always happens to people of color.

Southern Georgia. White 'neck cops. Black kid in a nice car. This is racial profiling. You can't compare the episodic event to you as a white person to the routine experience of people of color.

I'm glad this young man's life was not ruined for this and it is being cleared up. Cop was an a$$hole from the start upset about a low speed chase for someone proven right being concerned about being alone with cops in dark places.

So many things to disuss..for starters, the kits arent accurate. Arresting someone because of these kits should not be allowed. But, on the hood? WTF How is that "possession "? Lets evaluate. Would it be ok to arrest all passengers on a bus if cocaine residue was found on the front grill? What about on the roof of a store, does the owner and customers get detained?

How did they arrest him.. the only logical conclusion is there is some coke-addicted bird out there crapping on peoples vehicles but for some reason the cops arent concerned about that

I always store the cocaine I spent money on on my hood while I drive. Incompetent cops.

Meanwhile. The white guys are allowed to hit halfcourt shots to stay out all night and continue disturbing the peace.

It what freaking world is bird poop mistaken for cocaine? Who splatters cocaine on their windshield or hood of their car? Do these officers have any common sense? Another classic DWB "arrest".

Its physically impossible to get cocaine on the hood while driving down the road. You would be throwing it against the wind. Plus, how is that possession?
