Kind of like all of the awards given away, purely for optics. Drew Brees or Terry Bradshaw not making top 10 QB's is proof that most awards are BS.

I know it’s not a main line sport but the $hit Michael Phelps did is otherworldly. Arguably more impressive than anyone in that list.

You're not wrong... and he did it against the clock. The clock does not have bad days, there is no aspect of human error when it comes to time. Everyone else, other than Bolt (but he was only good at two events) on that list required teammates to assist in their success.
