© Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports
Things got heated and weird between Houston Astros manager AJ Hinch and umpire Ron Kulpa on Wednesday night. The two had a confrontation at home plate that ended with Kulpa yelling...

"I can do anything I want"
...

Then this happened...

That's why the Cather should have accidentally missed a 95mile an hour fastball. 10-12 times in a row.

He is right, refs can do whatever they want. They did in the NFC championship game and half the country didn't give a damn. A lot of media personalities defended them. So yea, they can do whatever they want. There is no accountability with the refs in sports today, not on the collegiate level or professional level, and won't be until the league and NCAA set forth to bring about some accountability. But the games are being controlled through the refs so the NCAA and the leagues will do nothing.

Astro's manager handled that whole situation perfectly IMO.

I watched the game on TV here in HOuston area. Ump was about as unprofessional as I have seen a MLB ump in a long time (exception for Angel Hernandez who is ALWAYS unprofessional and incompetent). Kulpa was provoking the dugout. His strike zone was horrendous for both teams, but really bad for the Stros. He stepped in front of the plate right before Cole was going to take his last warm-up pitch between innings. He was smirking at the players and Hinch when they confronted him. Cole let him have it between innings, but Kulpa sat and listened without tossing Cole. Stros offense is non-existent right now, but Kulpa needs to sit with his supervisor and watch some tape of his calls and his actions. Pitiful for a guy at that level.

Kulpa is an ass. How MLB doesn't remove him speaks to the apparent power of the umpires union. He is an embarrassment to baseball.
