The Men's Basketball team (14-3, 2-1), which has won two SEC games in a row, will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs (13-5, 3-0) tonight at 7pm in the PMAC. The game will not be televised. At halftime, Les Miles and the LSU Football team will be presented with the Chick-fil-A championship trophy for their 38-3 win over Georgia Tech.
A big crowd is expected for this game. As of 4pm yesterday, approximately 2,800 tickets remained available for purchase. LSU students are admitted free with their student ID.
TD Hoops expert "Stromile Swift" discusses how the PMAC can be quite an intimidating place when filled to capacity. Hopefully, the Maravich Maniacs can show up in full force.
In other hoops news, it was announced yesterday that Tasmin Mitchell and Allison Hightower captured the LSWA Player of the Week honors.
LSU Football...Not much to report, except five LSU seniors are preparing for the Senior Bowl, which will be played this Saturday at 6pm CT in Mobile, AL. The game will be televised on the NFL Network. Linebacker Darry Beckwith, wide receiver Demetrius Byrd, offensive lineman Herman Johnson, defensive end Tyson Jackson and fullback Quinn Johnson will be representing LSU.
On the Tiger Rant, "tiger1980", who gets an F for username originality, gets an A for his breakdown of the strengths and weaknesses of next year's team.
You know people are longing for LSU football when the hottest topic on the Tiger Rant seemed to be the controversial faskmask penalty in the 1979 LSU/Southern Cal game. The Trojans, ranked No. 1 at the time, escaped Death Valley with a 17-12 victory.
In LSU Baseball news, LSUsports.net released the latest photos of the new Alex Box stadium. Opening day is one month from yesterday as the Tigers host Villanova on February 20 at 7pm CT.
According to the new Baseball America preseason poll released yesterday, LSU will start the season No. 2. Texas A&M is preseason No. 1. There are five SEC teams in the top 25.
That's all for today.
Note: February 4th is National Signing Day, which is our busiest day of the year in terms of traffic. Contact us at tigerdroppings@gmail.com to inquire about advertising your business to the thousands of Tiger fans who will be visiting the site that day.
