Talented two-sports athlete Maurice Hampton was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 23rd round of the 2019 MLB Draft on Wednesday afternoon but quickly confirmed he is coming to LSU to play football and baseball.

Hampton is from Memphis, TN and played cornerback and outfield at Memphis University School.

@theOG obviously you don’t follow how the draft works. These high school kids usually have a number picked out. Teams call them and make an offer. Prospect can then decline. Hence why they may fall so far in the draft.
