NEW ORLEANS, La. – The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team defeated Louisiana Tech, 87-61, in the Compete 4 Cause Classic on Saturday night inside the Smoothie King Center.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 16 to face Morgan State. The game will tip off at 11:00 a.m. CT inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

With the victory, LSU improves its overall record to 11-0, while LA Tech falls to 5-4 on the season.

In the competitive first quarter, LA Tech landed in front of the Tigers, 19-17. LA Tech Jianna Morris and Paris Bradley each knocked down two three-pointers. In the start of the second quarter, LSU Amiya Joyner makes a layup to tie the game. Following, MiKaylah Williams dumps the ball to Grace Knox for a layup to seal the Tigers lead. Four minutes into the second quarter, the Tigers outscored the Techsters 10-0. LSU shot just 12-of-31 (38.7%) from the floor and 14-of-19 free throws on the half. LA Tech went 10-of-29 (34.5%) and drained six three-pointers. LSU closed the first half carrying a nine-point lead, 39-30.

The Tigers extended their advantage to 87-61 in the second half. LSU would outscore LA Tech 48-31. The Tigers made 17-of-29 (58.6%) field goals and 11-of-16 (68.8%) from the free throw line. LA Tech recorded 8-of-29 shots for 28 percent.

MiKaylah Williams had 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting and two from deep to lead the Tigers. Flau’Jae Johnson earned a double-double posting 13 points to go with 10 rebounds. Kate Koval put up 13 points and tallied five rebounds. MiLaysia Fulwiley also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Paris Bradley was the leading scorer for LA Tech, finishing with 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting and four treys.
