Former Florida quarterback and current SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow joined ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM this week and offered up some high praise for LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, even comparing him to former Tiger QB Matt Flynn.

Here's what he said about Burrow.
quote:

"I knew of him from Ohio State," Tebow said. "A lot of people knocked him because he didn’t win that job but he lost it to someone who is probably No. 3 in the Heisman race right now in Dwayne Haskins."

"He has been really efficient and effective. He’s been clutch in big situations. I think he’s getting better and he’s a better athlete than people give him credit for."

"I think he has a better arm than people think and he’s also a tough kid and he doesn’t make a lot of bad decisions. With all the athlete around him... that's a good recipe for LSU."

"A lot of people also look at him as a game manager, and I think he’s so much more than that. I think he has a little bit of Matt Flynn in him. That moxie that he had in 2007, and again I think that's a good recipe for LSU."

Tebow needs to come out of the closet. Burrows is making Tim erect.

Overall, in my opinion, Joe Burrow is quite a bit better than Matt Flynn was. Maybe he doesn't quite have the arm strength that Matt Flying had, but he is nevertheless more accurate than Matt Flynn was at LSU and also he is far better at reading the defense of the opposing teams and consequently much better at making decisions and also at making lightning-quick decisions when going through his progressions. At least at this stage of his career. As Flynn also improved on those things during his pro career. However, it is difficult to compare the two of them because they are quarterbacks for two entirely different kinds of offenses and systems, but nevertheless, I can understand why Tebow compared him to Matt Flynn. As it was Matt Flynn who beat Florida when Tim Tebow was there. I think there was a pretty gigantic learning curve for Joe Burrow for him to come into an entirely brand new situation as a new quarterback, having to learn a new culture, new teammates, a new coaching staff, a brand new offense, and having to compete for the new job on top of it, and I believe all of that also slowed down his progress somewhat. However, now that he has made the tremendous transition and adjustments and has now apparently become the leader of this team, I see nothing but progress and improvement for Joe Burrow for the remainder of the season. Furthermore, next season Joe Burrow will be lights out. As he will already know the offense and will spend the spring camp and the fall camp honing in his offensive skills as opposed to having to learn a new offense, new team, and new coaching staff.

I thought the same thing. Not in throwing mechanics, but in mentality. They both make good decisions(when to run, throw away, etc), they both protect the football, and they both improve their play when the game is on the line. I think Burrow probably has better throwing mechanics and ability though. No offense to Flynn.

Burrow getting better every game! He was very impressive last week, and Ensminger actually called a darn good game. I like the improvement in the last few weeks. Burrow is a gamer, and has some tools to make him better. Real test now through Bama. I like it so far!!
