LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt made it clear Tuesday that the Tigers are on board with the possibility of adding several late additions to the roster.

Speaking with reporters after practice, Leavitt was asked about LSU potentially adding former NFL rookies to the team and whether bringing in new players this close to the season could affect the chemistry inside the locker room.

Leavitt said head coach Lane Kiffin addressed the situation with LSU's leadership council and that the players are supportive of adding anyone who can help the Tigers win.

"Coach Kiffin came and talked to the leadership council," Leavitt said. "Obviously, the whole team's kind of been talking about it. We were all nothing but excited for, you know, the opportunity to bring guys in and help us win some games."

Leavitt also questioned why the potential additions have become such a controversial issue.
quote:

"I don't really know why there's such an issue with it," Leavitt said. "It's their fifth year; you know, everybody gets five years in college. I don't know all the details; I'm just here to play ball, but everyone's on board with making it happen if everything falls into place and it's legal."

The comments offer some insight into how LSU's locker room views the unusual situation as the Tigers wait for clarity on whether the former NFL players will ultimately be allowed to join the roster.

Looking forward to seeing this kid do his thing in an environment that he hasn't (remotely) experienced before.

He's dialed-in.

I would think all the players would be for it except for the players who will lose playing time. They are no threat to Sam.

But but Finebaum said Kiffin was lying about having the support of the team in this issue

"OBVIOUSLY CLK threatened to bench the players if they fricked up and told the media anything other than the official company line"
