During SportsCenter on Sunday, Paul Finebaum talked about LSU's chances of making the College Football Playoff if they were to win out.

Finebaum was adamant that the Tigers would get to the playoff if they win out and beat Georgia in the SEC Championship. Per SDS:
quote:

“Mark it down — they will be in the Playoff, because they are the SEC champion, which matters a great deal considering the reputation of the SEC. Also, beating Georgia would count as the biggest win of the year in college football on one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stage, and I think that would be the difference.

“Now, that also opens the door for Tennessee, because Georgia would automatically get in. Remember last year, Georgia was in the exact same position. They lost to Alabama. They got in. The same thing would happen this year should they lose to LSU.”

If LSU as SEC Champ and Tennessee and UGA get in. The 12 team playoff will start sooner than later. Just like the 4 team playoff started because SEC won all (most) and 1/9/12 happened and they dumped the BCS.

This is not a hot take or controversial. If you beat Bama and UGA and win the SEC title, how is that no obvious? Who else are you going to put in? UGA, Bama, Tenn?

Another reason it's good the field is expanding to 12. If LSU wins out how do you keep LSU Georgia and Tennessee out? Everyone knows they would smash the other teams.
