During a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, former LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. expressed his concerns about the upcoming football season saying that he feels like "the season shouldn't happen."

Here are his full comments about the season, per ESPN:
quote:

Beckham has been a full participant in the Browns' COVID-19 intake tests. After the WSJ Magazine interview was published, sources told ESPN that Beckham would not opt out of the season.

"Obviously with everything that's going on, it doesn't make sense why we're trying to do this," Beckham told the publication two weeks ago.

"We're not ready for football season. So why are we trying to push forward? It's obviously for their money," Beckham added. "And that bothers me because there's always been this -- and I hate saying it like that -- but the owners' [attitude is], 'Oh we own you guys,' and just kind of that unfairness going on that they don't see us as human. I just feel like the season shouldn't happen and I'm prepared for it to not happen and I wouldn't mind not having it."

Curious - Tre'Davious White has said that he's undecided if he will play this season and is considering opting out. Will TR rag on him too?

Then don't play. Don't accept pay. It's as simple as that.

I really hope the Rock makes the XFL work. I’d love to see guys who wanna play the kind of football we used to see without this ridiculous lack of depth and perception.

So you shouldn’t have a season but you won’t opt out? But the owners just care about the money? Man shut the frick up. Play or don’t but this hypocritical shite is unbearable

Do these fricking idiots understand the owner and employee relationship. You work for yhe owner of the business. I don’t always agree with my boss/owner but I understand I can always go work somewhere else. These dudes are spoiled entitled pussies who live in fantasy land.

"It's obviously for their money." Funny thing, but I haven't heard you say you were willing to give up YOUR paycheck, Beckham. Dude's a total embarrassment to LSU.

To be fair to Beckham, these comments are two weeks old - before he arrived to camp and saw the precautions being taken. But, of course, that fact doesn't jive with the WSJ, ESpin, or lazy staff reporters who quickly copy and paste.

Well to be fair to both him and you, this virus isn’t going anywhere and no vaccine is a sure thing at this point. So if he doesn’t think the season should be played this year then when should it? What if it takes years for a vaccine? Is he gonna wait years to get a paycheck? Must be nice to be that insulated.

Questioning the precautions taken by the league is valid. Saying that the owners are only doing this for “their money” while he sits on $65 mil regardless of if he plays is a level of hypocrisy that transcends the absurd.

Pro athletes are in a unique place where everyone around them will be tested. Far safer condition than the "rest" of America.

Not saying they should or shouldn't move forward BUT, what would Odell's position be if ALL income from existing contracts STOPS NOW until play resumes!!! Just a question.....

Exactly. If the players weren't getting their ridiculous salaries you would hear Odell and all other players screaming racism and other crap.

Everything is so unfair for Odell. What a terribly unfair hand he has been dealt in life. White privilege is not the only kind of privilege and Odell is a perfect example of it.

Wish he would get released, run out of money in 5 years, and have to go get a real job.
