Former LSU wide receiver Brandon LaFell has been released by the New England Patriots, according to multiple sources.


After the news broke, the six-year NFL veteran sent the following message out on Instagram:

Lafell, a native of Houston, TX, played at LSU from 2005-2009 and was on the 2007 National Championship team.

Good character, we're in need of a veteran receiver. He's a veteran. Might not cost too much. Perhaps we save a draft pick on a receiver. Pick him up??

He puts on a camp for underprivileged kids here in Houston every summer, that stays under the radar. It does not get any news coverage because that's how he wants it. one of my coworkers grew up with Brandon and helps out with the camp every summer. He brings in a slew of current NFL players to help out, they volunteer and do not get paid a single dollar. Brandon is a legit great guy

He already has caught a touchdown in a nation championship and a superbowl. He caught the first touchdown in the superbowl last year iirc.
