LSU defensive lineman Nelson Jenkins announced on Twitter Wednesday evening that he is staying at LSU after Ed Orgeron suggested earlier this week that the sophomore was opting out.

Jenkins, a native of Plaquemine, LA, is a former three-star prospect from LSU's 2018 signing class.

I know they all want to start but I know that rotating DLs is a major part of Bo Pelini’s and Coach O’s philosophy. These guys are going to play and I believe LSU is going to be very good. The schedule sets sets up nicely for LSU with the 1st 3 games brewing against weaker SEC teams. This will allow LSU to gain experience for these younger or less experienced guys. I like the way things are set up.

I wish you these best young man. Do not be intimated by the young studs. Get in there and make your bones. Football is much more than star players. Make your bones, work hard, play hard and that’s all anyone can do in life.
