Patrick Ochs of the Sun Herald recently spoke with Myles Brennan's father, Owen, about the addition of Joe Burrow to LSU's QB room.

Owen said that his son Myles "is good with where he is," and that addition of a fourth QB to the competition has not affected him at all. Per the Sun Herald:
quote:

"... He's going to compete and feels very comfortable with where his position is right now.”

"Here's what I think: I think Joe Burrow has three years and 15 pounds on Myles. That's it," Owen said. "I don't think he has a huge upper hand."

"Short of somebody telling him they guarantee he'll be the starting quarterback, he's going to be in a battle. I can tell you that," he said. "I have the utmost trust in Steve Ensminger and I have more than enough trust and belief in (coach Ed) Orgeron. I think it will be a fair battle.

"They're going to play the best quarterback."

Look Mr. Owen Brennan has a lot of confidence in his son like any good father would. QB Joe Burrow is here for one reason and one reason only neither QB's Myles Brennan, Lowell Narcisse or Justin McMillan took control of the starting position and by the way, Brennan looked the worst of the three. Brennan is not ready for the SEC point blank and simple his time behind the Center he has thrown INT's in real game time and the spring game and real ugly INT's. Now I'm not saying he won't be ready but as of right now he's just not ready and I know a lot of you guys will hate what I say but I'm a DIEHARD LSU FAN! And I want the best man for the job and Brennan, Narcisse or McMillan has proved that they are the one, so I say lets give Burrow a real honest chance. Best case scenario Burrow wins the job throws for 4,000 yards, 38 TD's to 4 INT's rush for another 500 yards and 8 TD's, orchestrates a victory over Alabama, win the SEC and catapult us in to the Playoff picture. We don't lose none of our QB's because Burrow played himself into a high NFL draft pick and QB prospect Grant Gunnell and another top QB prospect see a future in Death Valley and commits. I know that that's asking a lot but one can dream, right? GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN?????????

I'd like to hear what he actually thinks about Steve Ensminger.

First thing that comes to my mind is to recognize how quickly a man’s mind and body changes, the young qbs May win the job yet. Second thing is that expecting all of them to be ready in case of injury is asinine so Joe brings security along with promise.

Myles's father, Owen, seems to have his head on straight and not panicking. He thinks his son is good and will be able to compete for the starting job. And rightly so.

Brennan will take over after Jeaux in a year or two with optimal weight and experience

Dad has a good level head about this. Let’s hope Myles is the same. So what if he’s a sr before he starts. Not to long ago that’s the way was. Grab the reigns as a sr and give LSU a championship.

Daddy is incredibly naive if he thinks Myles has any chance of starting. If I were him I’d be hoping for a redshirt, otherwise he likely won’t start until he’s a SR on his last year of eligibility.

Competition brings out the best in people. May the best man win.

I met the man at the Ole Miss game and he is a straight up good guy. He loves his son and is confident in his son's ability.

If Brennan was the man we thought he was then Oeaux wouldn’t have felt the need to bring a transfer...period.

He didn't sign one on signing day, said they'd look into it in transfers. [check mark]

Joe or no Joe, Myles’ dad is spot on. LSU is going to play the best QB to put them in a position to be the most successful. If that’s Joe, so be it. If it’s Myles, so be it. This is not about personalities. It’s about winning football games in an elite conference. These kids know this going in, and stuff like this is what shows you what you’re really made of, and causes them to do more than they thought they were capable of. It’s like working out. You always improve when you have that work out buddy who pushes you to up your game. Competition breeds success.

Burrow didn't leave OSU to become the the backup at LSU. The job belongs to him.

Member when Seattle signed Matt Flynn to be the starter and then Russell Wilson happened?

I don’t think that’s an adequate comp. If anything, Brennan is is Flynn in that comparison and Burrow is Wilson. Brennan was there first, and after not being viewed as a great option, the team went out and got another guy they hoped was up to the task of taking the job

I don't think Coach O lured Burrow to come to LSU by promising him a back up role. My opinion anyway

I also don't think CEO promised him a starting spot

I think the fact that Burrow took a few days extra to think about it is enough to assume that he wasnt promised the starting job. I think those 3 years of extra experience is what is going to put him above the rest of our QB pack. Narcisse and Brennan should stick around and learn learn learn.

mylsuhat: So why do you think he left OSU? Meyer didn't name Haskins the starter.

There shouldn't really be any doubt about this. Myles Brennan's career is in no way the only career on the line. Coach O's career is on the line, and he has dreams and a family, too. He is going to play the QB that gives his team the best chance to win, and that fact should offend none of the players. This isn't a charity, and neither is the NFL, where they all hope to one day play.

This season won’t change O’s career much. Considering what we lost and having 6 games as of now we won’t be favored in.
