LSU's Derrius Guice will become the first athlete to sign with entertainment agency Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), which represents the likes of Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q and Jay Roc. Per ESPN:
quote:

"They were the first guys who came to me, just like LSU was the first school to offer me a scholarship," Guice said. "I didn't forget that."

Guice, who said he is a big fan of Kendrick Lamar, also said that he liked the idea of being the firm's first and only client.

"The focus is on me and my game plan, not on a ton of other guys," Guice said.

TDE, which was founded by Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith in 2004, currently represents eight artists and recently partnered with Disney and Marvel on "Black Panther," which hits theaters next month.

The sports division will be run out of TDE's Los Angeles headquarters and will be led by veteran agent Fadde Mikhail, who joined the company.

Lamar is okay I guess. Although, the McNeese Cowboys did beat the Lamar Cardinals 13-3 in football. Huh, what? Kendrick Lamar? Nevermind. Go Guice!

So everyones gonna have negative thoughts on his agency just its tied to a rapper? Kendrick Lamar is one of music’s biggest stars, I doubt that he has some bum arse agents working for him. Plus, his actual agent is a seasoned vet who’s represented Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, C.J. Spiller, Antonio Cromartie and a number of other NFL players. Let that man live!

Kinda reminds me of when Ricky Williams signed with Master P's No-Limit Entertainment's athletic representation division.......he was the one athlete. They had no experience in negotiating these types of contracts and Ricky got saddled with a very unrealistic, heavy performance based contract

Not really. The NFL slots all of their rookie salaries, so there really isn’t any negotiation going at all. Pick 5 you get this. Pick 70 you get this etc. The biggest thing the agents negotiate recently has been off set language. Picking an agent now is about who you think can get me the most dollars for outside work I.e endorsements.

I agree second contract is what matters and some teams may not want to deal with this guys clown posse when negotiations come up. I'd figure lamars crew is not someone these owners want to have aro7nd them or in there building.

Most times it's best to take the safe route when we are talking millions of dollars. I hope these jerk offs dont rob him clean.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Sincerely, Ricky Williams

Agree in way. I wouldn’t like the idea of being the guinea pig with a company representing their first athlete, but the one saving grace is the agent representing him is experienced (if true). Also they have a rookie pay scale which makes a little harder to screw up.
