LSU Sports - Chris Parent (@chrisparent)
LSU's strength coach Tommy Moffit was on the school's in-house radio show, “LSU Sixty" on Monday and said he would need a month with the players to do training and conditioning before they could start practice.

Per The Advocate:
quote:

“My biggest concern is player safety,” Moffitt said Monday night on LSU’s in-house radio show, “LSU Sixty.” “It’s my responsibility to make sure they’re in shape before we start any form of training camp.

"For me to do my job, I feel I would need at least a month to prepare."

“We need possible scenarios from June to August,” Moffitt said. “I’m getting my staff and myself ready for whatever happens.”
LSU's 2020 season is set to open up on September 5 vs. UTSA in Tiger Stadium.

Thats BS. The players can workout (lift and run) at home. CSB disclaimer*** I played college ball in the late 90's. Those who lived out of state went home for the entire summer with a workout binder. We reported to campus 3 days prior to camp for conditioning test. If you failed, you had penalty conditioning at 0500 each morning. Would it be optimal for 30 days? yes. Necessary? absolutely not

All the gyms are closed right now, (assuming players would even be able to afford a gym membership at home). How exactly would they have access to lift weights then?

You seem clueless about the reality of what is happening.

Sometimes college athletes tend to be well pampered . They are use to being treated as gold whereas regular students who pay for the universities to stay open get screwed. Maybe the regular ones who keep our colleges from collapsing should be treated in kind. We all know this will never happen but I sure wish it would.

You realize how much money athletes bring in right?

If I’m reading it correctly, he wants every “regular” student to have access to free strength and conditioning training from Tommy Moffit.
