According to San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in this ESPN.com article, his younger brother and current LSU quarterback, Stephen Rivers plans to transfer from LSU:

Rivers also said that his younger brother, Stephen, has been cleared by LSU to transfer. At 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds, Stephen Rivers will have two years of eligibility, and can play next year because he graduates in May.

Rivers said his brother is transferring because he’s more of a dropback quarterback, and LSU’s offense will feature read-option plays that require more a runner at quarterback.

Stephen Rivers says he's leaving #LSU on good terms, doesn't know where will transfer, obviously won't take part in spring practice here.

As an NC State Alum that transferred from LSU, I've been pulling for Rivers since he was signed. It would be awesome if he followed in his brother's footsteps and went to NC State. Rivers should geaux Wolfpack!

Good for him. Got stuck here in a bad way. I was honestly hoping he would transfer out so he'd get a chance to play and develop. Maybe after playing behind Mett and having been taught by Krags and Cam he'll be able to immediately win a starting job elsewhere and potentially pursue his dream of playing in the NFL. Good luck to him.

Good for him. I really would like to see what he can do. This is likely the only way we will ever see it.
