Tampa, FLA – Backed into their own end zone, redshirt sophomore quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU offense orchestrated an eight-play, 98-yard drive to beat Wisconsin, 35-31, in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Monday.

The game-winning drive was capped off by a 4-yard touchdown reception from Nussmeier to Brian Thomas Jr. with 3:08 to play.

The Tigers would force a turnover on downs, thanks to a sack from Greg Penn III, with 31 seconds left to put the game on ice, securing back-to-back 10-win seasons in Brian Kelly’s first two seasons.

LSU returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 1 for the Vegas Kickoff Classic at Allegiant Stadium against Southern California.

Man the commentator said this defense allowed an LSU record of 8 games of 30+ points or more, that ish is sooooo ridiculous.

Offense in 2024 isn't the problem. Matt House needs to go because having a month to prepare and nothing changes on Defense.

Going to need an aggressive defensive coordinator.

LSU offense will be fine but it won't be like 2023, so we're going to need the defense to bail the team out of several of the games next season.

The Nuss Buss will roll. Good win. Only Matt House can make a bottom rung Big 10 qb who threw 6 tds as the starter, look like a Heisman contender. He must be fired.

Great win and even as the defense played great at the end to secure the victory this game sealed House fate, he’s gone.

Great win but we need a DC who is proactive and aggressive, House is reactive and timid. LSU needs a new DC.

Great win for the future of the program. The comeback will increase Nuss’s confidence, and the defense got to come through late. Geaux Tigers!

Next season will be a different look LSU team but OMG can we get a defense that presses the issue and defends runs and passes. Tigers showed grit by coming back after they were down 28-14. Get better

The big take away from this is the Nuss' is now 1-0 as LSU's starting QB. May he continue his upcoming tenure along these lines! He played very well, but his comments after the game truly endeared him to me. He's a good kid and is going to do rather well.

I expect to get major thumbs down, but House had little yo work with. No DBs so he had to play zone. No pass rush so they had to hold coverages longer. More than his coaching was a below standard talent level.
