So I guess he won’t catch covid now from just life in general? Should players have to give up scholarship money for sitting out voluntarily? They aren’t holding up their side of the deal (and this is different than injury).

If he takes online classes he should, just like a journalism student who opts not to travel this semester due to covid or other reasons. Also, why does it bother you that someone has a scholarship when they have earned lot more for their employer than they have received back in value?

Terrible decision. This was his year to improve his draft stock. I respect his decision but clearly somebody in his corner isn’t giving him good career advice.

Agree somewhat, but he really didn’t state the reason why he’s opting out. I’m sure it’s a good one, which is none of our business anyway. Best of luck Kary!

Agreed. This really was his year to impress and raise his draft stock. I don’t think this was wise at all.

Avoiding the risk of contracting the virus while being good enough to be a guaranteed draft pick next year? Yeah, this guy is so dumb... /s

He gets to avoid risking an injury while preparing for the NFL draft? You don’t understand that? He paid his dues to LSU. I thank him for his role in delivering the greatest season in college football history to the fans.

Yeah, why can't he overlook the 150,000 dead people?

I guess he can focus on getting ready for team workouts and a fat UFA contract next year. How close is he to completing his degree?

Wow he could've improved his draft stock.

To prepare for the NFL? Why not just come out last year? Good luck KV.

If players opt out, but keep their scholarships and if players from schools / leagues that opt out want to enter the transfer portal; it makes the most sense for the 85 scholarship rule to become a "hybrid" this year - providing more opportunities for those looking to transfer and more safety to the teams that are playing should Covid somehow make its way into the locker room during the season.

I think it came down to playing time. Team just had announce Hampton as starting free safety

Changing his whole trajectory in life over a mild flu, sounds reasonable.

Didn’t his father pass away right before the beginning of last season due to medical conditions? If he wants to opt out before any further harm is caused to his family, that’s his decision. KV thanks for being a Tiger!

Doesn’t mean he’s not changing his life trajectory.

The people on her saying he is a sellout and having a negative view of him, are just like the girls who get out of a relationship and talk about how they are a strong independent woman that doesn’t need a man. Just showing how much you hurt to reach out and attack a player for making a personal decision. Go get a life and quit being upset a college kid made a decision for himself.

He needs way more than one season long preparation to get drafted. He's been a weak tit in the secondary. Good luck.

I wish he’d be honest. If you’re scared say you’re scared. He’s just as likely to get Covid not playing football than playing football. Very late round pick or uda
