LSU head coach Les Miles said Wednesday that he contacted current Mississippi defensive coordinator Many Diaz in the offseason when he was looking for a replacement for John Chavis who departed for Texas A&M.

Diaz was hired by Mississippi State to be the team's new DC on January 5 and LSU ultimately hired new coordinator Kevin Steele on January on 13.

Manny Diaz was fired mid season by Mack Brown at Texas, in large part due to an embarassing showing against BYU. Get Harris outside the pocket and let him run...we'll be good.
