Les Miles announced on Tuesday that Jeff Grimes has been named offensive line coach and running game coordinator at LSU. Prior to being hired by LSU, Grimes was Virginia Tech's OL coach on a team that racked up 4,628 total yards last season, which comes out to an average of 356 yards per game.

Grimes also served as the offensive line coach at Auburn in 2010 when the Tigers won the national title.

Here is what Les Miles had to say about Grimes today:
quote:

“Jeff comes to our staff with great experience and as coach who is very familiar with the SEC,” Miles said. “He helped Auburn win a national title in 2010 and has been part of some very successful programs.

“He’s a tremendous technician and will do a great job teaching our offensive line. He has a track record of putting guys in the NFL and producing outstanding offensive linemen. He’s a great addition to the staff and I’m looking forward to working with him for many years.”

Really?

Here are the rushing stats for Grimes as an OL coach since ‘09
2009 Auburn #12 (212 ypg)
2010 Auburn #3 (284.8 ypg)
2011 Auburn #32 (182.3 ypg)
2012 Auburn #85 (148.4 ypg)
2013 Va Tech #104 (119.8 ypg)

After the 2010 NC year there is a steady decline in rushing yards per game...proof is in the pudding
