Joel Klatt Moves LSU Into Top 3 After Dominant Week 1 Win Over Clemson

FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt unveiled his updated Top 10 following Week 1 of the college football season, and LSU made one of the biggest jumps in his rankings.

Klatt moved the Tigers from No. 8 in his preseason rankings all the way up to No. 3 following Lane Kiffin's dominant 51-10 victory over Clemson on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

"This is a program that I watched on Saturday night, and I thought to myself, 'OK, yup, that's real,'" Klatt said of LSU.

Klatt added that LSU is "absolutely a title contender from a talent perspective" and believes Kiffin has already shown that his revamped roster can work together despite questions entering the season.

Ohio State took the No. 1 spot in Klatt's rankings, followed by Texas at No. 2 and LSU at No. 3. Miami and Notre Dame rounded out the top five.

Klatt also offered an interesting comparison for what Kiffin appears to be building at LSU, pointing to the discipline and toughness of Nick Saban's teams combined with the star power of Pete Carroll's USC teams.
