Billy Cannon won his a few months before I was born. Being a Tiger fan nearly all my life, I never thought I'd see this day for a Tiger to win another Heisman. Joe, you have made us all so proud and so confident because of the quiet leadership, grit and confidence you've brought to this team. You walk the walk and you are the best example I've seen in an athlete. You've brought so much joy to the State of Louisiana and we are assured you will continue to bless those around you and will never forget from where you've been.

I can only imagine how proud his parents are. I felt emotional watching in my living room. I wouldn’t have been able to keep it together if I was there and that was my son. What a great young man.
