Former LSU and current Maryland offensive coordinator Matt Canada was named interim head coach after head coach D.J. Durkin was placed on administrative leave following the latest reports of “toxic” culture in the football program. Per NBCSports.com:

The Terps have been rocked by several reports over the past 24 hours from ESPN and other outlets regarding a “toxic” culture that has been established at the program under Durkin and others. The school moved earlier in the day to suspend three others (two athletic trainers and the assistant athletics director for sports performance) involved in the fallout from the tragic death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair after a workout earlier this summer.

Maryland should do well this year. They are in good hands with a solid professional.

Kinda makes our front office looks stupid if Canada does well at interim.

Now no one can tell him what to do. Canada is the type of guy that will hang himself with enough rope.

I was golfing with his best friend from their college days. Very proud of Canada getting this Interim HC opportunity though it’s during shite storm at MD right now. He also at said the Troy halftime that he and Orgeron went at it blaming Canada for the woeful first half, and Canada blaming O for demanding a conservative game plan thinking we could just win by out physicaling Troy at point of attack and all the pre snap movements were unnecessary. Said They did not talk to one another the rest of the year and Canada felt he was the scapegoat from the Troy game unfairly. Realize no surprises here, but reaffirms just how much those 2 butted heads.
