LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is down in Destin, FL this week for SEC Spring Meetings and spoke with the media about new transfer quarterback Joe Burrow.
Burrow, a graduate transfer from Ohio State, visited LSU two weeks ago with his family and chose the Tigers over Cinnicinatti. He has two years of eligibility left and can play immediately.
Orgeron praised the new LSU QB by describing him as "a game changer" and "a difference maker," but that he would have to compete and earn the starting job. Per The Advertiser:

"It all depends," he said. "I don't know that. Joe is an outstanding quarterback. And he's a game changer. He's a difference maker. But he's going to have to do it here. All the things we heard about him are true. He's smart. He's tough. He's got accuracy. And we wanted him. What we saw on film, we wanted him."
"The chance to play in the SEC was big," Orgeron said, then went deeper into his pitch. "And what we told him was: 'There's an opportunity for you here. We don't have a starting quarterback right now. We're going to give you the opportunity to win the starting quarterback job, just like we do everybody else.' And I told him, 'We started five true freshmen last year. Everybody has an opportunity to play here. But nothing's going to be given.'"
