Ed Orgeron Comments On The Report That LSU Is Hiring Daronte Jones As DC
by TD Staff Reporter
January 26, 202117 Comments

Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports
Ed Orgeron joined 104.5 ESPN's "Off The Bench" Tuesday morning and was asked about the report that LSU is hiring Vikings DB coach Daronte Jones to be the team's new defensive coordinator.
Orgeron said that he spoke with Dave Aranda who recommended Jones and was impressed with the interview process but nothing is finalized yet.
Orgeron added that if Jones was hired he would coach the safeties and they would look to hire a new linebacker coach and defensive line coach, hopefully by next Tuesday. LSU's safeties were previously coached by Bill Busch who was let go this offseason.
Jones was a defensive back coach under Aranda at Wisconsin in 2015. The Badgers led the nation with just seven passing touchdowns allowed that season and their passing defense ranked second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally, allowing just 173.2 pass yards per game, according to Jones' bio on Vikings.com.
