Shortly after the news was announced, head coach Ed Orgeron spoke on the SEC Coaches Teleconference about Stingley and his recovery.

Thank you Derek for choosing LSU, Sorry for your injury and I hope you can get healthy soon and back in the lineup. It’s fun watching you play!

Honestly if you or your son was in that position would y’all be any different? The kid is a top 5 lock wether he plays or not. I would love to see 7 back out there but I completely understand and agree if he and his family decided to shut it down. There’s generational money on the line with Stingley. He gets a bad reputation from fans that he isn’t all in and I can’t understand why. Just because he’s not the most vocal or outgoing kid nothing he’s done has led anyone to believe his heart isn’t in playing football for LSU with his friends and if he were healthy I 100% believe ge would be on the field.

Family's decision? Is that anything like I got DV'd for when I said it looked like a bizness decision...

"But that's a decision a family has to make." So, basically, he is probably cleared to return now... but the family has to decide if the risk to reinjury is worth coming back.

Our D is fine without him. Need to improve tackling, but they are clearly improving. The offense needs to help them by not going 3 and out all the time.
