Ed Orgeron Comments On LSU’s Transition To A Spread Offense

LSU's Ed Orgeron joined the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday morning and talked briefly about the Tigers’ transition to a spread offense under OC Steve Ensminger.

Orgeron explained that the transition will take some time since LSU has traditionally been a pro-style offense in the past but likes what he has seen through the first three weeks.

LSU had 370-yards of total offense in last week's win over Auburn and will look to build on that vs. Louisiana Tech this Saturday.

Ensminger saw what happened when Tuberville tried to convert to Air-Raid from his pro-style scheme. It was a total failure and cost him (and Ensminger his job) after they canned Tony Franklin. Maybe E is doing a gradual transformation.

I don’t understand why O didn’t pinpoint the wxact offense he wanted, identify the OCs who are the best at running that offense and then poach the best available. Why develop an OC and offense at the same time? Seems like a much steeper curve.

pro style is the better offense ,especially in this day of inferior staffed teams going to spread because they cant get prostyle (size and speed required ) athletes thus everybody now knows how to beat the hell out of spread style offenses
