LSU quarterback Danny Etling met with media on Monday and talked about the competition at the QB position with freshman Myles Brennan.

Etling also talked about LSU's offense and how he never had a 100-yard rusher before he arrived in Baton Rouge.

I don't understand people saying Brennan is close behind Etling. No, he's not. Am I the only one who saw Brennan throw an interception and almost a pick six on a bad read? Meanwhile, Etling threw two deep TD passes and came back in to lead us downfield for the game winning score? Not to mention the punishment he takes every week. Brennan is only 194 lbs. and would likely be knocked out by SEC defenses. I want him around to lead us the next 2 or 3 years. O is just getting him meaningful reps in a game in case something happens to Etling and to gain valuable experience.

I agree. While Brennan may be the future, I just don't think he's there yet. Putting him in the game when they did almost backfired on us. Our problems are mainly our bad offensive line, which don't give Etling any time and also some of the play calling. They should be calling plays that get the ball out of Etling's hand quicker because of the lack of protection. Instead, we've been running plays that take longer to develop and it has cost us on a few occasions. Also, one thing I don't think anyone can argue about, is that Etling is one tough SOB. Some of the hits he's taken the last 2 years and got back up from have surprised me. Anyways, not to take anything away from Brennan, I just think with our horrible line, Etling is best to have under center.

Etling knows the offense and has had a season seeing the best SEC Ds. Brennen doesn't and hasn't

Unfortunately he seems downtrodden. Might mean he knows that with time MB will beat him out during the year. Maybe not but if the younger QB progresses then I don't see O risking his job if MB looks better. At this point he is coaching for his life and if MB looks better at any point then he will play.

3-1 and coaching for his life. In his first season. Where do you come up with this stuff?

I really like him. Unfortunately he's just not that good of a QB and definitely not the QB we need right now.

Miles Brennan sucked it up how is he close behind?

Brennan sucked it up. Way too small and not ready for SEC. How on earth would he ever be "close behind"?

Exactly. Especially since he told Coach O he wasn't ready. The media just tries to stir up controversy to justify their jobs.
