Sophomore quarterback Anthony Jennings has taken an early lead in LSU’s quarterback competition, but the Advocate is reporting that freshman Brandon Harris will continue to play more and will see equal snaps against Sam Houston State on Saturday.
quote:

Harris saw just three snaps Saturday, a one-series outing marked by failure. Jennings, meanwhile, completed less than half of his passes and struggled on touch throws, but he helped lead the Tigers to a late rally with a handful of precise long balls.

Signs point to a continuing battle for the spot as LSU’s signal-caller.

The two quarterbacks remain listed as co-starters with an “or” between their names on LSU’s depth chart. Coach Les Miles admitted after Saturday’s game that he had hoped to Harris more snaps, and the coach said Tuesday that Harris is “coming on” and that coaches will “continue to bring him on.”

AJ & BH as first year starters are better than JJ and JL as seniors….already. it's not even close.

I, for one, don't want to waste all of our cupcake games on only one QB. How are we going to see Harris develop if not with our next few weeks? If not giving our Freshmen a chance to play and spread their wings, why else do we play these rent-a-win teams?

This make complete sense. Harris needs snaps to at best to challenge Jennings for the starting role and at least to become a competent backup.

And this is NOT JL/JJ'14.

Marked by failure? No blocking and no pass attempts isn't failure. It's a token appearance.

Chill out guys, just keep repeating "In Cameron We Trust" and enjoy the season. Yes, Les does get dazzled by Harris' ceiling but a guy like Cam wouldn't be in Baton Rouge if he couldn't handle Les' offensive eccentricities.
