New LSU running back coach Kevin Smith landed a big commitment on Wednesday with four-star running back Trey Martin giving his verbal pledge to the Tigers following his official visit to campus last weekend.

Martin, a 6-0, 195-pound prospect from Winnsboro, La. (Franklin Parish), is the No. 1 running back in the state for 2027. He chose the Tigers over Ole Miss and Florida.

After not signing a high school running back in 2026, LSU currently has three solid options for 2027 that includes Martin, along with four-star Tre Segarra and three-star Brennen Lacy.

Martin's verbal pledge gives LSU 12 commitments for the class of 2027.

Really wish you would stop using Ole Miss Coaching pics for things like this.

One thing I really like about this kid, he don't fear competition. The RB room is stacked for '26 with him being the third RB commitment, no fear of competition.

I’ve this kid in person many times and y’all are about to be impressed. Tough runner in and out and usually takes 2-3 defenders to bring down. But he has a teammate at Franklin Parish named DJ Neal who will be a junior that is turning heads.

Hallelujah!!! LSU is striking GOLD & some purple as of late. Having another Louisiana native is good Karma for the Tigers. Plenty of native Louisiana RB’s have been stalwarts. The list is long & incredible. Fournette, Faulk, Hilliard, Cannon, Stovall, Edwards-Helaire, Guice, Hester, Hill, Toefield,Vincent,Darrell William's & now Berry
