"Will Wade is a smart, energetic, and skilled individual," Alleva said. "He will provide great leadership for our student-athletes. The future of the program is bright."

Wade compiled a 51-20 record in his two years as VCU's head coach leading the team to its first Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season championship and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Tournament. As the No. 10 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Wade led the Rams to a 75-67 win over seventh-seeded Oregon State in the first round.

"My many years at VCU were some of the best years of my life and I will never forget the opportunities that university afforded me," said Wade. "But the chance to build on the tradition and talent at a place like LSU was an opportunity I have been working for my entire career." Read more.

Nice billboard. This guy just looks the part of today's college basketball coach. Young, smart and energetic. Kind of like a Brad Stevens of Butler(Now with the Celtics). Let's hope Coach Wade can bring that type of success to Baton Rouge!

Very happy with this hire. Lots of potential. Young gun. That said, I find it odd that 8 of his 9 losses were in 2's - 4 x back-to-back losses.

When you realize CJJ had more losses this season than CWW had in 2 years at VCU....

I like Will's last statement. I want him to look at it like he's building a program from the ground up because he will have and something he take pride in. I want him to create his own legacy here.
