H1N1 infected 57million Americans, 200,000 plus were hospitalized and 15,000 plus died. Do you remember this much panic pushed by the media or the cancellation of anything major as far as events? There were thousands dead before an emergency was declared and the stock market actually went up at first bc there was no panic.

No, for three reasons, at least. We know how flu is spread and how long it lives on surfaces/in the air. Secondly, we have a treatment (tamiflu) and a vaccine (of variable effectiveness depending on the viral stain) for flu. Third, we have no treatment or vaccine for COVID-19, we don't know to an exact degree how long it can survive on surfaces and in the air. And finally, it happens to be 10 fold deadlier than the flu.
There's a reason the media and now Congress on both sides are increasingly up in arms. There's been more effort and leadership from the business and sports community than there has from the executive branch. Blind loyalty is fine (not really, but...) when the interpretation of issues is debatable and it's not immediately life or death. It's ok to criticize bad leadership when it happens, and it is definitely happening right now.

@YMCA...hmmm well for starters by your numbers, H1N1 was killing .02% of the people it infected. COVID is killing 3% of the people it infects. In other words, COVID is killing at 150x the rate as H1N1.
