Former LSU pitcher Alex Lange has agreed to a $1.925MM bonus to join the Chicago Cubs just a few hours before Friday’s deadline for draft picks to sign professionally.

Robert Murray with FanRag reported earlier on Friday that issues came up during Lange's physical with the team on Monday, which delayed negotiations.
quote:

Chicago Cubs first-round pick Alex Lange had an issue come up with his physical on Monday, but the sides continue to talk about a deal that would presumably be less than the slot bonus value of $2,184,300 for the No. 30 pick, league sources tell FanRag Sports.

It’s unclear what the exact issue is with Lange’s physical, but it was enough where the two sides have to go back and discuss a new deal.
Everything ended up working out as you can tell from Lange's tweet Friday after everything was official.

We had 4 HS recruits who all signed for significantly more than Lange or Deichman without doing a thing to justify it. Strictly on potential. That's just crazy!

Don't understand how all of our guys are getting less than market value? However, I certainly wouldn't walk away from $1.9 mil. Happy for Alex!

Why is his offer less than what the slot is worth?

I'm gonna assume we would have to explain how the MLB draft works and that bigass thread on the rant so...... go to hell.
