LSU will start right-handed pitcher Alex Lange against Florida State in the Tigers' opening game of the College World Series on Saturday night, according to coach Paul Mainieri. Per The Advocate:

After Lange? LSU coach Paul Mainieri was not about to give up that proprietary information Tuesday.

“We’ll start with Alex Lange, but that’s the extent of which I’m going to divulge at this point,” Mainieri said.
This will be Lange's second CWS start as he pitched a 10-stirke out complete game against Cal State Fullerton in 2015. The Tigers defeated the Titans 5-3.

First pitch between LSU and Flordia State is set for Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.

Always pitch your best and if Walker is on prior to second game then pitch him... especially after Poche was pitching well against MS but after homerun he collapsed mentally and walked too many....also remembering how Poche once mentally collapsed and could not throw runners out at first base multiple times and had to be removed ...have to think of the team not just fact that he came back for his senior year

Like, who else would it be. Lange has been the #1 starter the last 2 years. Poche will go 2nd, and Walker 3rd. The Tigers have always won championships with their bats, and that should again be the formula for success in Omaha. Score early and often, and pitch effectively with runners on. Along with stellar defense. Hopefully, the ride will continue! Good luck Tigers!

This is the first time since those late 90's teams that I remember LSU having 3 starting pitchers and a handful of bullpen arms that are relatively reliable. Its a little worrisome that most are freshmen and have no real postseason experience but id be willing to bet that thats the case with most teams in Omaha this year. Geaux Tigers!!!!!

No surprise there. FSU has been on heck of a roll lately and to pitch anyone but Lange would be a foolish display of disrespect.

First game is always the most important one. Pitch your best and hope your bats can carry you through the next couple of games.
