Per LSUSports.net: BATON ROUGE—Behind outfielders Daniel Cabrera and Antoine Duplantis combined four home runs and 11 RBI to No. 1 LSU baseball team defeated UL-Monroe with a 12-7 on opening night Friday in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

Cabrera’s two home runs in a game and five RBI were both career highs. It was the first multi-home run game for senior Duplantis. His grand slam in the bottom of the eighth was the second of his career. The first was on April 22, 2016 against Mississippi State.

Wasn’t particularly impressed with the pitching except for a good 1 inning showing from a couple of them. Hope they just need to settle in.

This is the kind of early season game that the Tigers would have lost in the past few seasons. I really like this team going forward!

This game had the feel of a CWS semifinal. I know it’s really early, but it shows how much grit this team has. GEAUX togas!!
