Arizona Second-Team All-American Jacob Berry entered the NCAA Transfer portal this week and could end up following Jay Johnson to LSU, according to Kendall Rodgers with D1 Baseball.

Berry, a freshman from Queen Creek, Ariz. hit .352 with a team-high 17 home runs and 70 RBI this past season.

The third baseman/designated hitter started in 62 games and hit 19 doubles, five triples, 87 hits, and had 33 walks.

Most of the team entered the draft portal because they don't know who their coach will be and there is a deadline to enter. Let's pump the brakes a little

Yeah, you think that until you’re the kid or parent that the recruiter wasn’t honest with or the coach you were recruited by decides he wants to go elsewhere because he can The transfer portal is a solid mechanism.

I disagree. If the coach can leave, why can’t the player? That’s not fair to the kid either. What if he really liked the coach then leaves? New coach comes in and sucks/you don’t get along and your next 3 years suck. In my opinion, coach leaves, the kids should be able to leave.

So basically this is the foreshadowing of his upcoming announcement on transferring to LSU. The real question is how many of the other 11 in the portal join him.
