“The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has determined, in collaboration with our 10 Sections, that education-based athletics for the 2020-2021 school year will begin with a modified season of sport schedule,” the statement said. “Our calendar reflects the season for each CIF sport and the last date for Section Championships and Regional/State Championships in those sports where a Regional/State Championship is currently offered. Following this announcement, each CIF Section Office will release their own calendar to reflect regular season starting and ending dates and Section playoffs. It is anticipated that most Section start dates will commence in December 2020 or January 2021.”

The price of living in a blue state - your kids won't get the opportunity to play sports (or support sports teams) due a virus that has almost zero impact on their health, thanks to the politics that surround the virus. Kids in general getting royally screwed here.

Has lots of effects on health. When hospitals are full like they are in most red states right now where they hate and ignore doctors.. You can't play sports or have large gatherings because those gatherings send people to the er for various reasons. When you have a serious football injury you dont want to pull up to the er to see a sign that says no Vacancy. Strain on health system effects everyone! Repubicans and democrats.

The after effects of moving to spring affects more than just the play on the field. High school football is also about the bands, drill teams, and ROTC. They have competitions on their schedule in the spring. Yes, I am glad they will play, but imagine the high school game like a peewee game, with only the parents yelling at the officials, and nothing else.

"Will this be the new trend we see state-to-state...(?)" -- yes it will be in the low T blue states. Kind of a given.
