looks like the bottom of the handle hit him in the temple - not 100% it was a real flop. I've been hit like that before, and trying to stay conscious and maintain balance looks like that.

Anything with any kind of weight to the head has to hurt. It wasn't a water balloon! The player is at fault because anytime you throw something, you have to make sure nothing is its way!

Looks like the kid was throwing it back toward his dugout and didn’t see the umpire. He should have just dropped the bat but he will next time. And he looked pretty shook up about it.

The umpire was struck in the head with a flying aluminum bat, they’re pretty heavy, and he had no protective gear on his head. Not hard to believe it affected his balance. Unfortunate accident.
