Urban Meyer Apologizes For Purple Jerseys
by Larry Leo
March 9, 201211 Comments
According to The Lantern on Wednesday, an LGBT group and Ohio State alumni society, Scarlet and Gay, told Urban Meyer that it doesn’t approve of the Buckeyes’ football players earning lavender jerseys for “loafing” in practice. Meyer sent them an apology letter...
quote:OSU athletics spokesman Jerry Emig told The Lantern that the program has changed the color of the jerseys to an unspecified hue.
“Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the purple mesh pullovers,” “The use of purple was never intended to be used to offend anyone, but since it has, we have taken steps to change the color.
Please accept our sincere apologies. We have core values of respect and honor within our program, and these are two principles that are central to my personal life, my coaching and to Ohio State and its athletics programs. Bias has absolutely no role in how we think or operate.”
