Kangaroo probably felt cornered/threatened. They could've rode to the far right side of the road when passing them instead of pinning them up against the fence.

I'm a cyclist, and there's nothing I hate more than other cyclists. Have this impulsive urge to run them over when driving to eliminate the competition. Good for the 'roos.
