Erin Andrews Opens Up About The Nickname
© Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports
FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews sat down with and opened up about a lot of things to HBO’s Real Sports. One of those things was the tough time she had in high school and her nickname “Manute.” Obviously named after legendary 7-foot-7 NBA player Manute Bol.
quote:

“I would’ve liked to have been named MJ, or Scottie Pippen or something like that,” Andrews joked. “But I got Manute.”

“I didn’t enjoy high school,” Andrews said. “All I wanted to do was talk sports. Friday nights, when all of my girlfriends were at the movie theater with their boyfriends, I was at our friend’s house down the street watching the Chicago Bulls.”
Her father understood why...
quote:

“She was very tall. And she was very thin – she was always thin. Kids referred to her as ‘Manute,’ as in Manute Bol,” her father told HBO.

5'10" isn't really that ridiculously tall for a woman.

it was probably one person who called her Manute. Very few people knew who Manute was even when he was playing. He was not a household name when she was in high school.

Can Manute bend down far enough to look through a peephole?
