The 26-year-old aviation enthusiast – who was attempting to thrust the plane into a vertical line – was left in a state of disbelief when he saw the propeller had stopped spinning, as the aircraft began plummeting towards the ground nose first.

Admitting the engine of his ‘Pitts Plane’ has never cut out for him before, Chad begins to level the vessel in an attempt to buy some time and begin a process of troubleshooting to re-engage the engine.

As soon as the engine quit he nosed-over to go into a dive so he could build up airspeed. It is what people who know what to do, do. Building up airspeed gives you lift when you have to level out to try the landing. The fact that he got his engine restarted was academic at this point. He had the airspeed to land safely.

Exactly. He never lost control and had plenty of airspeed. It looked like there were lots of options as far as where to land. Gliders don’t crash every time they land and this guy was basically flying a glider when the engine died.

It would also be a good way to get a lot of views for the engine to "suddenly"a cut off and coincidentally restart 100 feet off the ground, on which he would have landed safely had it not. Never in danger. Possibly manufactured situation.
